A Collection of photographs from the U.S. Farm Security Administration and the U.S. Office of War Information, 1930-1945.

Collection consists of a selection from the US Farm Security Administration (FSA) photography project of the depression years representing the work of many well-known photographers, and from the US Office of War Information (OWI) reflecting efforts on the home front. The prints, 20 x 25.5 cm., were made from the original negatives in the Library of Congress. FSA photographers include Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Carl Mydans, and Arthur Rothstein. OWI subjects include: airplanes, baseball players, Winston Churchill, Fort Benning, Japanese Americans, Liberia, Marine Corps women, Negro workers, Eddie Rickenbacker, shipbuilding, steel industry, tin, War Production Board, and women in essential services.

The Farm Security Administration (FSA) was established within the United States Department of Agriculture to implement the provisions of the Bankhead-Jones Tenant Act of 1937. The agency also took over certain functions of its predecessor, the Resettlement Administration (RA). The FSA made available and administered long-term loans to tenants and sharecroppers, loaned funds to rural cooperatives, and operated camps for migrant farm workers.
